Can you feel it?
If you are here in the Northern Hemisphere, you may be feeling the stirrings of spring.
Yes, here in Alberta, it felt like spring would NEVER arrive. It would warm up, then the cold would return. The snow would melt, and then it would snow again.
What a seesaw of weather!
That kind of weather tends to stir up emotions within people. One minute you’re uplifted thinking the spring has arrived, and in the next minute you’re down in the dumps because it’s snowing again.
Alas, as April slowly fades away and May is on the horizon, the sun is shining brightly, and the temperatures are rising. The snow has almost all melted. The grass is getting greener day by day, and there are buds on the trees. Birds are arriving from the south, and the air is replete with mating calls and bird song.
At this time of the year, when I see the first pussy willows or the emerging buds on the tips of the branches, my heart begins to stir.
All my life, I have had a deep connection with trees. All kinds of trees. The Baobab, quiver, flame, jacaranda, thorn, eucalyptus, palm, apple, cherry, and so many more.
For me, trees and forests have held awe or wonder. They have also been my refuge in troubled times, my oasis of calm when things were overwhelming, a sanctuary when I needed to reflect and recharge, and a source of wisdom.
This quote sums up how I feel about trees: “All trees are essential and merit our attention and respect. Truly, there is a tree for every mood and every moment.”
Taken from “The Island of Missing Trees” by Elif Shafak.
While walking in the forest the other day and noticing the changes on the trees, I thought it would be fun to look at trees from a completely different angle in this post.
The Celtic people of Europe believed that we have a deep connection with a specific tree, depending on when we were born. I found it quite fascinating when I came across a chart showing which Celtic tree zodiac sign we are. When I read that the Celtic tree for my zodiac sign was the Ash, and what it said about me, I had to smile. It sure did sound like me.
Thus, I decided it would be fun to post the chart for you to see which Celtic tree you are connected with and what it says about you.
Read on and find out for yourself whether it resonates with you. I would love to hear what you found and how you feel about it.
