Living Life in Joy
Life doesn’t become smaller as we grow older. It becomes deeper.
After more than seventy years of living, travelling, questioning, and embracing new experiences, I’ve discovered that joy isn’t something we find at the end of the journey. It is something we can choose to cultivate every day.
Here you’ll find reflections from a lifetime of experience, gentle Qigong practices to support body and mind, and stories that may encourage you to embrace your own next chapter with curiosity, vitality, and trust.
Some people know me as a Qigong teacher. Others know me through my writing, my travels, or my book. To me, they are all expressions of the same journey: discovering how to live fully, embrace change, and find joy through every season of life.
For more than four decades, I have been an educator, a lifelong learner, and a curious explorer of life. My journey has taken me across five continents, through more than eighty countries, and into experiences that have shaped the way I see the world.
Living Life in Joy grew from those experiences.
While many people first discover me through Qigong, my work has grown to embrace something much broader: helping people live well through every season of life. Through gentle Qigong practice, reflective writing, conversation, and the wisdom gained from lived experience, I invite others to reconnect with themselves, discover new possibilities, and embrace the life that is unfolding before them.
I believe we are never finished becoming. Every experience—whether joyful or challenging—has the potential to deepen our understanding of ourselves and enrich the way we live.
As a Certified Spring Forest Qigong Trainer, I continue to share a practice that has transformed my own life and the lives of many others. Yet the heart of my work extends beyond Qigong. It is about cultivating vitality, curiosity, resilience, and joy, whatever season of life we find ourselves in.
I continue to write, teach, and learn with the same curiosity that has guided me throughout my life—still learning, still growing, and still becoming.

My Backpack was My Home:
One Woman’s Wild Adventure Guided by Insight
What would your life be like if you could trust your intuition and open up where the guidance led you?
I did just that! I am still doing it!
You can too!
In my mid-teens, a personal experience profoundly changed me and became the guiding force of my life. An inner path opened, and I was guided from a small Canadian town to a life of adventure worldwide. I followed my inner guide for over 25 years with a backpack as my home. My knife-edge adventures, personal losses, life-altering connections, and deep soul searching finally led me to live joyfully.
Here is what one reader had to say:
“I loved reading about all of the journeys Carolynne went on over the years. By trusting and listening to her insight, she was led to so many places, seeing so many beautiful things, and meeting beautiful people. It has inspired me to listen to my own insight to see what path I will go on. Thank you Carolynne!” ~ Joanne B
